Bike Hackers Get Whimsical With Two-Wheelers
Bicycles, like cars, are chock-full of parts that can be replaced, but simply switching out silver aluminum rims for hot-pink ones is child's play. Welcome to the world of bike modding, where bicyclists get creative and turn their two-wheelers into rolling works of art and artifice. From upgrading their bikes' usefulness -- with built-in grocery carts, railway attachments, snowshoes and the like -- to just pimping them out with sound systems and arty add-ons, bicycle tinkerers work to improve the standard two-wheel ride in ways both practical and phantasmagorical. http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/multimedia/2007/10/gallery_bike_hacks?slide=1&slideView=3

One for the combined bike nerd AND trainspotter ;) While this one would probably be harder to steer than a Kingswood in need of a wheel alignment. The ski bike is just a kludge-up of that Canadian stalwart of winter madness, the ice velocipede.

Commercial now, but this started as bike hacking, the Dirt Surfer (seen in this movie link in conjunction with a kite wing board propulsion system.)

...and while we're hacking our arses off, check this caster trike, the Radical Zombie SpinCycle! Check their book! (Amazon have it, Atomic Zombie are out of stock.)

And when you've stopped wasting time on these crazy pipe dreams (pun intended!), get out and mow the lawn, OK.

OK OK, yeh, I've got a bit carried away, but this is the last one, I promise! Yes, that's a car tyre on the back wheel.
